Crushed

There’s an ironic note in the word “crush” when it’s used to mean a short, intense infatuation with another person.

It’s as if the word itself is warning you, “You’re going to get ‘crushed’ if you have a ‘crush’ on someone.”

It’s true, in a way. In most cases, actually. I’ve been there myself. I won’t get into details here, but there have been times when I searched for my identity and satisfaction in guys and “crushes” that seemed so much more serious than they really were, at the time.

Every time, I was left feeling empty. Disillusioned. Unsatisfied. Hurt.

Crushed.

That was, until I realized that only the Lord could satisfy the longing and aching in me.

I could finally leave all those broken pieces of my heart to Him, and live joyfully in His love and grace.

I’m not saying that the longing you have for someone to love you and live with you the rest of your life is wrong, or something that you should be ashamed of, or try to suppress. In fact, that longing is God-given, created by Him in you.

It is our privilege, however, to strive to glorify Him in this area of our lives, and to surrender to His will. It is our joy to long after Him, to seek Him and His kingdom, before anything else in this life.

And when you make Him the one and only King of your heart, the center of your life, the one thing you seek and long after more than everything else—that’s when you experience the joy and peace that only Christ Jesus can give you through the Holy Spirit.

Seek after the eternal, one true God, not other people or your own desires.

May God bless your day! 🙂
